[Marc C. Pietrek filed the following report for VITRIOL, INC / A DARK UNITED FRONT  (www.vitriolinc.com)  on 03/02/2018 at 10:56 PM EST] – VITRIOL, INC / A DARK UNITED FRONT has confirmed that Patrick Lind (ex – MORBID SAINT) has been named the new vocalist for UNCIVIL WAR. I confirmed this with guitarist Scott Owen (SUBVERSION A.D., ex- HIRAX, ex-PIRANHA, ex-ELIMINATE), drummer Joe Cangelosi (BROOKLYN MILITIA, ex – WHIPLASH, ex – KREATOR, ex – MASSACRE, ex – ELIMINATE) and Patrick himself on 03/01/2018. The announcement comes at the same time the band, which also includes bassist Rich Day (BROOKLYN MILITIA, ex – WHIPLASH, ex – PRIMAL SCREAM) are finishing the recording the second song for their self-financed debut demo, which is being recorded in locations in New York City and Texas. UNCIVIL WAR is currently searching for a recording deal.

Scott Owen provided the vocals on the band’s first recorded track, “UNCIVIL WAR”. He offered this comment regarding the addition of Patrick:

“I’m happy to welcome Patrick Lind as the new singer for UNCIVIL WAR. We are very excited for the next chapter of this band and are very confident in Pat’s abilities. Looking forward to the future and the head-chopping songs to come!”.

 Joe Cangelosi gave this comment:

” We are looking forward to working with Patrick and we can’t wait to finish our recording and start playing live shows”.

Patrick Lind appeared on MORBID SAINT’S  critically acclaimed ‘Spectrum of Death’ [1990 Avanzada Metalica Records], ‘Destruction System’ [2015 Weird Face Productions] and the ‘Thrashaholic’ compilation [2012 Independent]. The band was part of a burgeoning Wisconsin metal scene in the late eighties, early nineties that also included MORTA SKULD and RHEALM. Notable gigs they played were a few opening up for DEATH and DARK ANGEL locally on the COMBAT RECORDS ‘Ultimate Revenge II TOUR’ IN 1989. They disbanded in 1995. They reformed reformed in 2009. On 02/13/2016, Patrick officially resigned from his duties with MORBID SAINT via his personal Facebook page.  Directly below is a portion of that message.

“I would say to anyone in a band, enjoy every shitty hotel, cramped van ride and piece of stale pizza. Play every stage like it’s the biggest youve played, embrace every fan who wants a moment of your time, hit every drum, crunch every chord and hit every high note with all you’ve got so in the end you walk away with no regrets. I was blessed to have this experience of a lifetime. Thanks,  Stay Morbid”.

As previously reported on VITRIOL, INC / ADARK UNITED FRONT (www.vitriolinc.com), UNCIVIL WAR formed out of the working relationship Scott Owen and Joe Cangelosi shared in ELIMINATE, who are fronted by ex- DARK ANGEL vocalist, Don Doty. ELIMINATE is currently concentrating on doing versions of songs done during Doty’s tenure with DARK ANGEL from 1984 to 1986. On 04/07/2017, the band posted the message directly below on their Official Facebook page:

“GOOD MORNING FRIENDS!!! We just wanted to let people know Scott Owen and Joe Cangelosi are no longer with Eliminate…we wish Eliminate the best on their musical journey… stay tuned for our new band Uncivil War…all original thrash metal!!!!!”.

Now, I can not even begin to tell you how excellent this news is, ya rivet-heads!! What we have here is two paths intersecting with each other now making one path. A thrash metal reverse fork-in-the road if you will. You already have thee established thrash metal vets in Cangelosi, Owen and Day, from the genre’s heyday in the eighties and early nineties. All three coming from such notable bands as KREATOR, WHIPLASH and HIRAX and all were fully-entrenched in their respective scenes of Los Angeles, New York City and Germany. All three ready to prove, hands down, that true thrash metal has not gone the way of the dinosaur, wind-up automobile engine and Commodore 64. This outfit is primed to inject some serious black mamba venom into a very stagnant scene that quite honestly, lacks a lot gritty, serrated riffs and skull-detaching, spleen-piercing bass and drums that old school thrashers (such as myself) have been craving for what seems like an eternity and have no problem bitching and complaining about.

Now, enter Patrick Lind. In him we have one of the best thrash metal vocalists ever in my humble opinion. Why do I say he is one of the best ever you may ask? The answer is splattered all over MORBID SAINT’s first two releases like blood on the walls of combat-zone triage unit hit by a suicide bomber. When I hear his vocals, I can’t help but envision the mental abyss of some possessed, blood lusting psychopath that yearns to be the cross-breed of the Plainfield Killer and the Night-stalker. Is he up there in technical ability with Joey Belladonna? Fuck no!! However, he has been perfect for thrash metal with his caustic style. Oh, and one more thing. DO NOT buy into the bullshit that his pipes are shot. Far from the truth. If they were, I would never have recommended him to the band a little less than a year ago. Sometimes people don’t deserve a chance at redemption. For my hard-earned dead presidents, I will say that this man is more than worthy.

I grew up in northern California during the 1980s and have been an AVID heavy metal fan since 1982. Having experienced the Bay Area thrash metal scene first hand, thrash metal will always be at my core, However, I am also a huge fan of death metal, doom metal, traditional heavy metal, stoner rock/metal and old-school black metal. If it concerns any of those sub-genres, (to borrow a quote from Christopher Walken in 'THE KING OF NEW YORK') "I want in on it!!". Cheers, ya rivet-heads!!
