BAND FEATURE: SENTINENT HORROR
Written by Marc C. Pietrek 2017
SENTINENT HORROR are a much welcomed blast of old–school style Swedish death metal by way of Woodland park, New Jersey. If you are a fan of the early works of ENTOMBED, DISMEMBER, UNLEASHED and GRAVE, then this band is a must listen for you. This unit lays down a savage, flesh tearing barrage of caustic riffs anchored down by floorboard loosening bass. The drums are a great combination of alternating d-beat and double bass (think ‘Left Hand Path’-era ENTOMBED crossed with ’Covenant’-era MORBID ANGEL). The James Murphy influenced lead guitar playing is pretty damn solid and I believe that the guy will develop more of his signature style over time. Last but not least, the vocals are a throwback to those classic anger and despair vocals that Sun Light Studios in Stockholm seem to capture with ease back in death metals golden years. This is the type of death metal that stays on my iPhone for moths and is played at nearly full volume in the ride.
SENTINENT HORROR is composed of Matt Moliti (lead guitar/vocals), John Lopez (guitar), Ian Jordan (bass) and Ryan Cardoza (drums). Be sure to stop by their artist page on Bandcamp.com:
